My undergraduate focus was in math and science. However, through the years I decided that relationships were more important and realized that most individuals don't have the tools to form good marriage, family, and friendship connections. Much of this is the result of poor parenting that leaves an individual fearful, without confidence, and having no idea how to navigate life's challenges. Children are precious and deserve to feel loved and secure. This is difficult if their parents weren't nurtured and shown how (primarily by example) to have a loving marriage. We deserve love in marriage, and our children need that example. My graduate studies at the University of Southern California were in sociology (sex and gender focus) and marriage and family therapy. I have years of experience in parenting, responding to domestic violence, treating pornography addiction, and helping clients who are depressed and/or anxious.

We all need someone to talk to at times, and I have dedicated my career to being that person for others. As a LCSW, I have over 6 years of experience. I enjoy working with teens and young adults to help with problems adjusting to life’s changes, relationship issues, unhealthy boundaries with family, friends and/or others, and poor self-esteem and self-worth. One of my aims is to build a compassionate and relaxed environment for clients to open up and collaborate to realize and accomplish goals. A large part of my practice has been in the treatment of grief and loss, trauma and healing, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. We will work using different techniques such as, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. I like to build on strengths that patients already possess but may not see. My style is laid back and client centered. I have a strong sense of compassion and commitment to helping others and understand that, for some, beginning counseling may be a difficult decision. I will meet you where you are to get you where you want to be. Let’s work together to improve life and start thriving!

Let me be your guide to better understanding yourself and why you think, feel, and behave in the ways that you do. You know yourself better than anyone, but I can help you notice patterns that have been hidden or locked away. Whether experiencing anxiety, relationship concerns, or a low self-esteem, it is my hope to give you a soft space to land with genuine care and kindness. I’ve been a practitioner for 5 years specializing in anxiety, attachment wounds, inner child work, and sex & sexuality. I work with lots of different populations, but mostly work with femmes, trans and nonbinary folks, and the LGBTQ+ community. My goal as your therapist is for you to get to know yourself and others in a more attuned, empathetic, and compassionate way. In my personal time I love to read (expect a lot of book recommendations) and occasionally crochet. I love a good cup of coffee, practicing yoga, and connecting with the earth and nature through native gardening and hiking.

Hi there, I'm Briana and I am a licensed clinical social worker and therapist in the state of Indiana. Wondering if we are the right fit? Ask yourself these questions. Do you feel spread too thin, like ice on the verge of breaking? Do you feel like you have to "do it all," which leaves you overwhelmed and stressed? Are your relationships, responsibilities, or feelings being put on the back burner? Is it hard to be kind to yourself? Sometimes, do you feel like you just want to run away? If you answered yes to any of these, we might be a good fit. I help many clients with these types of challenges. I approach my work with compassion and with an understanding that many people have underlying experiences with trauma and unmet childhood needs, which we will make space for processing in our sessions. Together, we will work to reduce your inner critic by seeking an understanding of all aspects of yourself, including the painful parts. We will work to discover why they exist and how you can regain control over your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, all while building on your current strengths and resilience. I empower young people and adults to develop the strengths and tools they already have within themselves to address the stressors of life. Together, we will look at the whole picture to identify what you can change, what you can let go of, and what you can move forward with. Seeking help can feel scary, but you are in the right place. This is a safe space to explore your needs and wants, so you can become the best version of yourself. Whether you are coming here with general overwhelm, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, mood swings, attention deficits, or relationship challenges, I'm here to help.

Everyone deserves a safe place to explore their thoughts and feelings. I believe clients are the experts in themselves and I provide a safe space to explore thoughts and feelings without judgment. One request I may ask of clients when we work together is that labels like “right” or “wrong” are strongly discouraged in sessions. Letting go of those labels in session is an important part of creating that safe space. The most common struggles of the people I work with include Borderline Personality Disorder, PTSD, struggles with assertiveness, gray-area substance use, and anger outbursts. The other mindfulness practices can help with managing anxiety, impulsivity, and intrusive thoughts. As your recovery evolves in stages, your treatment will too. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have been practicing since 2018. My specialties include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and narrative therapy, as well as other mindfulness practices.

Anchor Point Counseling offers a variety of services to meet each client’s varying needs. Counseling is not a one-size-fits-all type of service. Each client will bring with them a unique story and perspective through which they relate and interact with themselves, others, and the world around them. Here at Anchor Point, we want to honor those differences through offering more specialized treatment (EMDR and FLASH), specifically in working with trauma and anxiety disorders. Additionally, Anchor Point has a particular interest in treating educators, student-athletes, and coaches. General counseling is also available.
