Hi! I'm so glad you made it here. Maybe you are exploring what it means to live authentically. Perhaps you have some old wounds that never quite healed and are sneaking their way into your present, in the form of depression, anxiety, PTSD, or addiction. Having worked with diverse clients with varying backgrounds and experiences, I believe that every client is unique and that you are ultimately the expert on yourself, which is something I will incorporate in my work with you. I offer an eclectic approach that can differ from client to client depending on their personal needs and will often include some combination of different evidence-based practices. Wherever you are on your own personal journey, I will work at your pace and bring non-judgmental warmth to each session while I strive to provide a caring atmosphere where you can feel safe. No one can embark on the journey of life for you, but you don't have to do it alone. If that all sounds good to you, reach out to schedule a free 10-15 minute consultation.
I am passionate about helping individuals on their path to self-discovery and leading a genuine and authentic life. Drawing upon my background in counseling and neuroscience, I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and existentialism into my approach. I also offer Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration therapy. I aim to help individuals cultivate openness, awareness, and engagement with themselves, their loved ones, and the world around them. By incorporating meditation, relevant literature, art, and nature, I aim to create a holistic therapeutic experience. These elements enrich the exploration of subjective experiences, self-perception, and the profound aspects of existence. ACT emphasizes acceptance of one's thoughts, emotions, and experiences, while also encouraging commitment to taking meaningful action aligned with one's values. In our sessions, I guide individuals to develop psychological flexibility, allowing them to respond more effectively to life's challenges and pursue a rich and purposeful life. While I am excited to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, I have a special interest in supporting those who experience chronic conditions such as pain, grief, psychosis, and trauma. Together, we will delve into meaningful discussions about topics like death, identity, and the transformative potential within each person's existence.
If you’re looking to have the space to explore issues and experiences that have impacted your life, I may be a good fit for you! Additionally, as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I have first-hand experience with the challenges and fears that come with developing, growing, and accepting your identity. My approach to therapy includes using skills from CBT, DBT, and CPT to help understand and change thoughts and behaviors. Together we will work to create a deeper understanding of unhelpful patterns that may be present in your life. I will aim to gently push you out of your comfort zone in order to avoid repeating these patterns. Finding the right therapist for you can be difficult and take time. I have several years of successful outcomes working with college aged students both enrolled and not enrolled in classes. I specialize in anxiety and depressive disorders as well as life transitions. I often ask the question "Who am I" and help clients explore and develop their own answers to this question. I approach therapy realistically and meet the client where they are at during each session. I approach therapy as a team (you and I) and believe success only occurs when we can trust one another. I have been told that I am approachable, easy to talk to and "down to Earth".

“Of course it is exhausting, having to reason all the time in a universe which wasn't meant to be reasonable.” ― Kurt Vonnegut, Breakfast of Champions Hello! Thank you for taking some time to get to know me. As a social worker and therapist, I'm passionate about helping individuals find their path to well-being. Finding a good therapy match is crucial to bringing about the change that you desire in your life. Working with someone where you feel seen, understood and challenged in a non-threatening way creates the safety to explore the unknown and grow into your full potential. I have been in private practice for 16 years and I trained and worked at Tufts University Counseling Center for 4 years. In the wise words of author Sharon Salzberg, "If I opened my heart and mind big enough to take in the suffering, then there would be healing- not because the suffering itself is redemptive or healing, but because of the opening I was cultivating in the face of it."
People come to me because they are struggling and feel stuck or overwhelmed. I see lots of college students in my practice and specialize in working with people who are challenged by anxiety, ADHD, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (level 1) but I have experience with many different issues. My approach involves providing information about how the brain works, how to use it as your ally instead of an enemy, and how to find strength in the very things that challenge you. (ex: There are so many wonderful things about having ADHD!) I do this in the context of interpersonal relationships where we talk about things like identity and communication/conflict resolution skills. I also work with people going through a major life transition. I will help you to sort through your feelings and options, work with you to find insights that inspire positive decisions and changes, and help you to be patient with yourself as you work to figure things out. I pride myself as being an LGBTQ affirming therapist. 15 minute walk from WCU. I also have free, off-street parking. Rates listed below are my discount rates for registered students and not my full rate.
