I have a great passion for helping those struggling with challenges while attending college. My approach in therapy is to work as a team with you to make the discomfort you are going through become more manageable. Your discomfort may not disappear, but I can help you navigate these feelings. I aim to empower you to feel more in control of your response to the struggles of life. I am very solutions focused. In order to feel different, we have to try something different. I offer psychoeducation, suggest different coping skills and will point out the patterns of behavior/choices in your life and how they are impacting you. I really enjoy helping those who struggle with perfectionism and people pleasing behaviors. In a world that is filled with judgement and stigma, a safe place where you can be yourself without apologizing is hugely important. I am a LGBTQIA+ and relationship minority affirming therapist. We all deserve to be seen and heard for who we are and not what others want us to be. We all deserve a place where we can let our guards down and just simply be--not just parts of us, but our whole selves. It is of utmost importance to me that I provide a safe, supportive, respectful space. I believe you, the client, are the expert of your own experience and I genuinely look forward to learning about your worldview. My two and a half years of traveling through the Middle East and Southeast Asia expanded my view on life. It further taught me that much of our knowledge is socially constructed and not universal truth, and there are multiple ways to view things. I enjoy exploring different lenses in which we can view the world so clients can find what best serves them. I'm trained in mindfulness and enjoy sharing techniques to live in embodied presence and more fully in our lives--instead of allowing the mind to ride on autopilot. If you're ready to move from living out of habit to living with more intention and purpose, I'd love to join you on your journey. That first call can be difficult, but the outcome so rewarding!
Holiday Blues? Struggles with navigating challenges like depression, anxiety, trauma, behavioral concerns, stress, and self-esteem? I offer a supportive space where you can explore what’s weighing on you and begin to move toward healing and balance. My approach is person-centered and tailored to your needs. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just need someone to talk to, I’m here to help. I draw from a range of therapeutic methods including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, strengths-based strategies, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and EMDR. In our first few sessions, we’ll talk about what brings you to therapy—your story. I focus on building trust and rapport from the start because I know opening up can feel intimidating. Together, we’ll identify goals and create a treatment plan that feels right for you. Clients often tell me they appreciate the calm, welcoming environment I create. We’ll work at your pace, and you’ll never be pushed to go faster than you’re ready for. I’m passionate about this work because I get to witness real transformation—watching clients grow, heal, and reconnect with themselves is incredibly rewarding.
On the outside, you’re a success- but on the inside, you're secretly miserable. Your emotional reactions are unpredictable, extreme, or out of control. You’d love to strengthen the meaningful relationships in your life and be able to open up more freely. And of course you’d like to reduce any self harm urges and actions. I can help you. The most frightening step is asking for help and you’re already here. I make therapy convenient with weekend/evening hours, available online to individuals residing in Pennsylvania, Kansas, and all states with enacted PSYPACT legislation (https://psypact.site-ym.com/page/psypactmap) Please note that clients from New Jersey are not being accepted at this time due to state legislation issues related to telehealth providers. - Level 3 trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (through Behavioral Tech) - Level 2 trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (through AEDP Institute) - Certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure (through the Department of Veterans Affairs) PLEASE NOTE: Sessions are online only.
Hello, my name is Janet. My mission is to support others on their journey to leading a healthy, rewarding life to their fullest potential. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a master's degree in social work from the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor's degree from Mercyhurst College. Are you ready to start a new path in your life? Or are you feeling weighed down by the heaviness of fatigue, worry, trauma, grief, or the pain of your past? You are not alone. Together we will understand your suffering, draw from your strengths, and develop new ways of coping with life’s challenges. As a therapist, I provide a unique integration of humanistic, experiential constructivist, and mindfulness-based therapies. I am passionate about serving the underserved, particularly the needs of the African American community. As a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, I am also invested in responding to the challenges veterans face while at home and abroad. Aside from being a therapist, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, (anywhere with water!), failed attempts at salsa dancing, chocolate, and church.

You don’t have to navigate this alone. Whether you're feeling stuck, anxious, grieving, questioning your identity, or overwhelmed by life transitions, therapy can be a space to slow down and reconnect with yourself. I work with college students, professionals, and adults—especially those in the LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent communities—who are seeking deeper insight, relief, and a renewed sense of meaning. My style is warm, collaborative, and direct. I bring a trauma-informed, relational approach to our work, integrating elements of psychodynamic therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I’ll help you explore how past experiences may still be showing up in the present and support you in making empowered, values-based choices for your future. Clients often come to me for support with anxiety, trauma, identity concerns, grief, depression, relationship issues, and career struggles. I offer virtual therapy to clients located in Pennsylvania and any PsyPact participating state. If you're ready to begin—or even just curious about what therapy might look like—I invite you to reach out. Let's see if we're a good fit.

I use a traditional therapeutic modality (cognitive behavioral) in conjunction with a Mindfulness based approach. Clients learn to self regulate emotions as they learn to achieve their personal goals. Life will become more meaningful and fulfilling when the individual aligns with a purpose that feels authentic and valuable.
I am a Psychotherapist and Psychoanalyst with many years of experience working with undergraduate, graduate, and medical students. I worked for many years at Carnegie Mellon Counseling Center before transitioning to full time in my private practice 15 years ago. I work with a wide range of difficulties including stress, anxiety, sadness, feeling overwhelmed, difficulties with academics or relationships, family difficulties, homesickness, procrastination, concentration or motivation difficulties, uncertainty about life direction. I help students in both practical and deeper ways. I work well with students who want to understand themselves and their symptoms, and are open to exploring how and why their difficulties have come about in addition to developing better coping mechanisms. I often see students who have seen other therapists and have not felt a good connection or felt the therapy was not helpful. I am warm, empathetic and good at engaging adolescents and young adults. I offer practical techniques to address symptoms such as mindfulness, meditation and relaxation strategies if desired. In addition, I engage students in looking deeper for more lasting change. I see people virtually and have some in person slots at my office in Squirrel Hill.
