I take a holistic approach to healing, focusing on Psychotherapy, In my 15 years of experience working with people diagnosed with mental illnesses, and severe traumas, I observed that treatments often ignored holistic methods to healing. Through listening, caring, and working together with my clients, I recognized that some emotional and psychological issues are often managed by initiating small life changes and making healthier choices. My goal and passion is to assist and empower my clients to identify the changes they choose to make to have the life they have desired. I will assist them in achieving their goals while supporting them as they carry out their plans to live a healthier life. Please notes sessions can be face to face or virtual.

About Me: Hello, I'm Nhi, a dedicated first-generation social work intern in my second year at Columbia University's School of Social Work. I hold a B.A. in Psychology from Grinnell College and bring a deeply personal understanding of mental health challenges shaped by my own experiences as an Asian American in foster care. My journey has been profoundly influenced by the intersection of intergenerational trauma, immigration, and systemic inequalities, providing me with a unique perspective on the complexities of healing and resilience. My Approach: I believe that trauma and mental health struggles do not exist in a vacuum—they are often reflections of broader societal issues. Growing up in a family affected by intergenerational trauma, poverty, and systemic discrimination, I understand firsthand the cascading effects these forces can have on a person's mental and emotional well-being, even into adulthood. This insight drives my therapeutic approach, where I aim to provide a compassionate, culturally sensitive space for clients to explore their experiences and find healing. I bring extensive experience working with diverse populations and complex trauma. During my time as a case manager at a domestic violence shelter, I supported individuals and families from all walks of life, many of whom were dealing with overlapping traumas, including domestic violence, mental health struggles, homelessness, childhood trauma, and identity-based discrimination. This experience reinforced my belief that trauma and mental health challenges are often intertwined with larger societal issues. Mental health challenges can significantly impact daily functioning, even long after the precipitating events have occurred. In some cases, there may be no clear cause, yet the impact is still profound. Regardless of the situation, everyone deserves support in their healing journey. In my practice, I adopt a flexible, client-centered approach, tailoring my methods to meet each individual's unique needs and strengths. I utilize a range of therapeutic techniques, including trauma-informed therapy, person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). I believe every person has the inherent capacity to navigate their challenges, and my role is to support, empower, and provide tools for their journey toward healing. What to Expect: In our work together, you can expect a supportive, non-judgmental environment where your experiences are honored, and your voice is central to the healing process. I am committed to understanding your story in its full context, recognizing the multiple layers of identity and experience that shape who you are. Whether you're dealing with personal trauma, managing day-to-day stressors, or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I'm here to walk alongside you, providing the guidance and support you need. I am a pre-licensed therapist intern at Sol Health working under the supervision of Susan Chung, LCSW, MPH. Sol Health is a digital health startup that offers $30 therapy to Gen Zs by connecting them with therapists in-training accruing clinical hours. With warmth, empathy and humor, I create a non-judgemental, and safe environment in which to explore and resolve challenging issues. I am a solution-focused therapist, and my primary goals are the relief of distressing symptoms, restoring emotional balance and clarity of thought, improving self regulation, developing more stable and intimate relationships, and having a more satisfying life experience. While we can't change difficult experiences of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in the present.

The students I work best with are curious, thoughtful, and often in a period of deep self-questioning. Many are figuring out who they are, what they believe, and what kind of life they want to build. Some have experimented with psychedelics and are left with big questions afterward about meaning, identity, emotions, or reality itself. They want support in making sense of those experiences in a grounded, non-judgmental way. I also work well with students who feel alone or disconnected, especially when that feeling traces back to childhood experiences, family dynamics, or early trauma. These students may struggle with anxiety, sadness, shame, or a sense that they don’t quite belong. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, feel understood, and explore what’s coming up without pressure to have it all figured out.

Hello! I have over 20 years of experience working as a counselor and social worker and enjoy working with people of all ages. I employ techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, tapping, and motivational interviewing to assist my clients. I have a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach. I believe in meeting people where they are at, and empowering them to do the things that they want to do, not the things others tell them they should be doing. Many of my clients have told me that I am easy to talk to, a good listener, and nonjudgmental. My communication during therapy is truthful and real. My tone and demeanor will fit what you need - some people desire a soft and gentle tone, and some people want to get straight to the point. I believe that it is important to hear a person's story and understand what their goals are before beginning any treatment. In our first session, we will talk about why you came to counseling and what you hope to achieve while meeting with me. I'd like to hear from you if you think we might be a good fit. I am part of the Path referral network, which means that when you reach out, my team will get back to you quickly to schedule our first session. I am committed to making therapy affordable. Through Path, I am in-network for most commercial insurances, so you're only responsible for your co-pay!

This is a challenging time for all of us, but you are not alone. I am offering phone and video therapy sessions available throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and I am offering sliding scale sessions. I work to help increase your awareness of the emotional patterns you're living with in your day-to-day life. The more self-aware you become, the easier it is to identify what makes you happy and what doesn’t. As you grow in self-acceptance, you will find new ways of living your life. Reach out and let's see if we are a good fit.

Anxiety has been very present over the past few years. I specialize in working with anxiety whether it is about the ever changing world we are all experiencing or a long term personal relationship with anxiety. My therapeutic approach is based on Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) for intervention and talk therapy with a psychodynamic orientation for understanding underlying root causes and insights. I explore the underlying dynamics of the past creating interference with today. I take a direct and genuine approach in therapy with compassion. I'm passionate about collaborative work in the therapy room as an agent of change. I work with individuals to illuminate the path towards self-awareness through exploring underlying yearnings and opportunities to consciously choose actions based on meaning and values. I generally provide practical interventions to use in your daily experiences to actively work towards your goals in between sessions as well. I work with a diverse population in a collaborative approach to promote mental health. Feel free to reach out to schedule an initial appt.

I specialize in working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds (BIPOC & LGBTQ+ adults) who are navigating life’s challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, anger management, identity exploration (racial, sexual, and gender), abuse, and internalized shame. You don’t have to carry it all alone, shrink yourself, or show up perfectly—I’m here to offer a supportive, affirming space where you can show up authentically, be seen, and heal in a way that feels aligned with your values. As a Black, queer, Afro-traditional spiritualist, my work is deeply rooted in love, liberation, and wellness. I believe healing is both a personal and collective journey—one that calls for self-exploration, connection, and the unlearning of narratives that no longer serve us. My approach blends personal wisdom with professional expertise, allowing me to support clients in understanding how systemic oppression and interpersonal experiences shape their daily lives. I am passionate about creating spaces where people can reclaim their autonomy, heal from trauma, and redefine their narratives in ways that honor their truth. I believe that transformation happens when we feel safe enough to show up fully as ourselves, and I strive to cultivate that safety for every client I work with. If you're seeking a space to explore, heal, and step into your power, I’d be honored to walk alongside you! If you’re interested in reinviting balance and harmony back into your life, please feel free to send an email to awilhite@therapyinsghtspractice.com so that we can discuss further.

Since starting private practice, my clients have been for the most part POC, LGBTQ/non-binary, undergrad/graduate students. Since I spent five years teaching as an adjunct and then full-time professor (in nursing), I have some insights into the challenges today's students currently experience and believe I can be a useful asset toward managing any symptoms that may interfere with obtaining your degree. Even though I am a prescriber, I treat the whole person. I don't want to just know the medicine efficacy, or lack thereof; I also want to know what's going on in your life. Is there balance? Are you connected socially? Should we also be discussing any family issues? Going off to school can be challenging and although psychotropic medication plays a role in ameliorating anxiety and depression, we also can engage non-pharmacologic interventions to get you to a better place.

Marriage & Family Therapist
New York, NY

My philosophy of therapy is collaborative and holistic, and I aim to meet my clients where they’re at to inspire change. I am most passionate about working with queer people who have difficulty being fully authentic. We can work together to dismantle the stories and systems that have impacted this and cultivate greater self-compassion and self-awareness in who you are. In therapy with me, my clients feel seen and encouraged to show up as their authentic selves. As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, my expertise is in relationships and seeing things through a systemic lens. I have experience working with folks with anxiety or depression that can interrupt their ability to live a full life, sometimes facing unsteady relationships and hoping for more security. Together, we can work to make sense of difficult relationships, own and advocate for your feelings and needs in relationships, and identify and set boundaries with others. My experience is in working with teens and adults in the context of individual, couples, or family therapy.

Clinical Social Work/Therapist
New York, NY

My name is Savi and I’m a licensed clinical social worker in private practice. I have a particular interest in working with students as much of my clinical experience is in working with people in their teens and early 20’s who are going through the big life changes that happen at these times. There is so much to navigate during this time in life with academic demands, becoming more independent from our families, and starting new relationships. There are many reasons we are drawn to start therapy, but I find it is often because we are struggling with difficult feelings related to these things that we may not understand and don’t know how to get rid of. I think it’s important that you have a safe place to talk about these feelings and for us to begin to understand what is underneath them.
