Hello, I look forward to seeing how I can help you! Navigating school can be challenging. There can be so many things to try to manage in addition to classwork. Getting help to manage it all is part of being an authentic person sometimes. If you need some space to figure things out, get some support, or find ways to help manage your mental health, I want to help. I am here to provide a safe space to work on being who you want to be.
I work with adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or not quite like themselves, often dealing with anxiety, low mood, or a lack of motivation. Many of the people I work with are navigating new life transitions, health concerns, relationship challenges, or stress related to work or school. My style is warm and collaborative, meeting you where you are and working alongside you. I take a holistic approach to therapy, getting to know you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms. We’ll explore how things like emotions, relationships, physical health, sleep, and daily stressors all interact to affect your wellbeing. I draw on cognitive, behavioral, motivational, and mindfulness-based strategies. Together, we’ll get to the root of what’s contributing to how you’re feeling, build skills you can use in your everyday life, develop healthier ways of responding to difficult thoughts and emotions, and take small, consistent steps toward what matters most to you. It takes courage to reach out, and wherever you’re starting from, you’re welcome here. Therapy with me is a space where you can feel supported, understood, and accepted, while also working toward where you want to be. If you’re feeling stuck, we can work through it together.

You’re managing school, work, relationships, and everyone’s expectations — and people assume you’re fine. But underneath, you’re exhausted from keeping it together. You’ve even tried some self-care, but it’s not hitting like it used to. Many of the clients I work with are BIPOC, queer, and/or neurodivergent adults navigating anxiety, chronic stress, relational trauma, and major life transitions while working toward a greater sense of self and safety. I specialize working with clients who have mood disorders, trauma, learning disabilities, and developmental disabilities. Many clients identify on the LGBTQ+ spectrum and are working on finding who they are. I am a current school social worker that works with students of all walks of life. I have experience that can help you as you navigate college pressures, transitions, and career paths. I enjoy working with high school and college students. Often my clients are working through life changes and transitions and they want to better their relationships. I help clients understand things that are happening in their bodies, both physical symptoms related to escalation or anxiety, and their emotions. I can help you identify triggers for negative feelings and interpret various social interactions. Together, we can work to help you gain insight of helpful versus harmful behaviors. I view this work as collaborative. Together, we can recognize patterns and cycles that start with interpretation of events, your cognitive patterns, and your feelings, empowering you to determine which actions to take. We can process past and present events that have impacted your ability to connect with others, while working toward finding peace and growth.
Hello! My name is Dana Kremidas! Welcome to my page. I have been a practicing Social Worker for 13 years. Since then, I have worked with a lot of college students who are having a tough time adjusting to college life. Students often feel maladjusted, some feel anxious, some suddenly are having academic problems that weren't there before, depression, addiction, relationship issues, social anxiety, ADHD, etc. If you are experiencing issues related to your mental health, you may need to speak to a therapist, and I believe that I can help! We will have a 15-minute free consultation to decide if I'm right for you! If so, we will schedule an appointment. If not, I could refer you to a colleague. Please contact me if you are interested in therapy. I also work on a sliding scale, which means that I charge people less who make less. I will never judge you. Believe me, we all have stories to tell.
Because no two people are the same, your care at Connecting Heals is designed to honor exactly who you are. You will find a safe, culturally responsive, and explicitly LGBTQ+ affirming space that celebrates your unique identity and neurotype, rather than expecting you to fit into a traditional or neurotypical box. To ensure your healing journey is accessible, you will also be met with flexible financial options, including sliding scales and insurance advocacy, to help remove barriers to your care. Ultimately, your therapy is built around your individual lived experiences, empowering you to heal and navigate the world as your most authentic self.
Finding joy starts with a single step, and reaching out is one of the bravest steps you can take. My role as your therapist is to guide you toward rediscovering the light within yourself—your joy, your strength, and your unique potential. Together, we’ll create a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported, as we gently untangle the patterns and barriers keeping you from living fully. Whether you’re struggling with self-doubt, anxiety, depression, or relationship challenges, I’m here to remind you that healing and growth are possible. Using a strength-based approach rooted in empathy and tailored techniques, I’ll support you as you take intentional steps toward the life you deserve—a life filled with clarity, confidence, and joy.
Welcome! Transitions are rarely as "seamless" as they look on social media. Whether you are a first-generation college student navigating a system that wasn’t built for you, or a member of the LGBTQIA+ community looking for a truly affirming space to land, I am here to support you. Why work with me? As a therapist with lived experience as both a first-gen graduate and a member of the queer community, I understand the "double-lens" many students carry. You won't have to spend your sessions educating me on the stakes of a "B-" grade when your family is counting on you, or explaining why coming out feels different when your campus and home life collide. I provide a space where you don't have to "code-switch" or pick one part of your identity over the other. In our work together, we will: Navigate "The First-Gen Weight": Unpack the imposter syndrome and achievement guilt that often come with being the first in your family to pursue a degree. Explore Identity with Ease: Provide a grounded, queer-affirming environment where your identity is celebrated, not just "tolerated." Build a "Chosen Home": Move past just "surviving" the semester and start building an internal sense of safety and belonging. College is a massive life shift—a pressure cooker for anxiety and depression. You don't have to figure it out alone. My clients are often high-achieving students who feel like 'outsiders' in academic spaces. They are looking for a therapist who 'gets it'—someone who understands the intersection of cultural expectations, queer identity, and the unique pressures of the first-generation experience. I know that taking the first step can feel overwhelming—especially if you’ve been taught to 'just push through' or if you’re worried about whether this space is truly for you. My approach is informed by years of experience "on the inside" as a public school teacher and guidance counselor. I’ve seen firsthand how the educational system can both support and fail students, especially those from marginalized backgrounds. This means I don’t just offer emotional support; I understand the actual logistics of academic burnout, the maze of campus resources, and the specific exhaustion of being a student in today's world. You don't need to have it all figured out before we talk. Whether you have a specific goal or just a heavy feeling you can't quite name, you are welcome here. I offer a free, 15-minute consultation call so we can see if we’re a good match—no pressure, just a chance to connect. Check out my website and click CONTACT ME to send me a brief message. I usually respond within 24–48 hours, and we can take it one small step at a time from there. Smiles:) Melissa Rappaport, MA, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)

College and young adult years can be both exciting and overwhelming. Many students and young adults find themselves managing anxiety, depression, or grief while also trying to keep up with academic demands, relationships, work, and expectations from family or themselves. Feeling stressed, burned out, unmotivated, or emotionally drained does not mean you are failing — it means you are human and navigating a lot at once. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling. I work with college students, young adults, and adolescents using a client-centered, goal-oriented approach. Therapy is a collaborative process where we focus on what feels most pressing for you and develop practical strategies to help you cope more effectively with stress, emotions, and life transitions. I support individuals experiencing: * Anxiety and depression related to academic pressure, performance stress, and major life changes * Grief and loss, including losses that occur during college or early adulthood * Emotional overwhelm, burnout, difficulty with focus, and feeling “stuck” or disconnected * Relationship and family stress, especially as roles, independence, and boundaries shift * Autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and behavioral concerns in adolescents and young adults I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and stress-reduction techniques to help clients build coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and gain clarity during challenging seasons. Therapy should feel supportive, nonjudgmental, and empowering. Whether this is your first time seeking counseling or you are returning to therapy, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as you work toward balance, confidence, and improved well-being.
