Therapists for college students near Boston, MA
I am a psychotherapist with more than 20 years of clinical, teaching and research experience. I work with individuals experiencing an array of circumstances and challenges. One of my specialties is counseling people with a focus on those in high-risk professions (e.g., law enforcement, fire/rescue, EMS, military) and their loved ones. I also work with a broad range of individuals employed in other “helping professions” (e.g., medical and mental healthcare providers, veterinary medicine professionals, educators, prosecutors, clergy) whose careers may have been negatively impacted by job and/or personal circumstances. I work with many other types of clients. My easy-going manner and collaborative style help clients develop effective strategies to enable you to better cope with, or to resolve challenges and issues, which adversely affect well-being and quality of life; depression and other mood disorders, anxiety, addiction, grief/loss, trauma, medical problems etc. The blending of my academic training, life experiences, accumulated clinical skills, and my “ability to be real with clients” combine to put my clients at ease and guide them in successfully navigating life’s challenges.

The therapy session is a time and space one sets aside to focus on self. To be with self. And to build one’s self. It can be challenging to reflect on patterns, thoughts and emotions, relationships, past events and/or change, but it can also be transformative and rewarding. My role as your therapist is to witness your process and to reflect back with you along the way. The therapeutic relationship is an essential piece of my practice and is built on honesty, trust, empathy, and compassion. In conjunction with traditional psychotherapeutic frameworks (CBT, DBT, Gestalt, Psychodynamic), I use Expressive Arts Therapy (Movement, Drama, Music/Sound, Art) to help foster a creative process. When applied therapeutically, a creative process can help a person heal, open up to change, and may offer new feelings, thoughts, insights, and perspectives As a Dance/Movement Therapist, I specialize in using movement as a tool to identify, explore, and shift the way one relates to self, other, and the world around. I believe engaging in an integrative, body based psychotherapy process is a direct and effective path to embodied growth and transformation.
My therapeutic approaches are insight-oriented and supportive psychotherapy as well as using solution-focused and problem-solving models. As a therapist trained in Internal Family Systems, I incorporate mind-body-spirit techniques to help you better understand your challenges and to shift perspectives. I have experience working in MA, IL, and WA in community mental health clinics, hospitals, and on a college campus. For the past 15+ years, I’ve seen students and working professionals at my private practice in Boston area. I enjoy supporting clients from a variety of backgrounds including cultural, linguistic, sexual orientation, education, disability, and socioeconomic status. Please inquire about current availability and set up a free 15-20 min. phone consultation; I look forward to hearing from you and potentially having the opportunity to work together. Please note: all my sessions are conducted via telehealth and I’m able to meet with clients who are physically located in MA.
Our College Mental Health Programs provide young adults with educational opportunities to build collegiate resilience, academic and wellness tools, and social connections. Our work is steeped in the principles of psychiatric rehabilitation: personhood, hope, choice, and self- determination, and we believe in recovery from mental health and substance use conditions, and the power of peers, mentoring, collaboration, mutuality, and inclusive communities.
I work collaboratively with clients to help them in their path towards growth and healing. With acceptance, authenticity, and empathy, I believe that psychotherapy is a process of developing greater self-awareness and igniting personal change. I am committed to creating a warm therapeutic environment for you. My specialties include trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and young adult transitions. I have advanced training and experience in trauma-informed approaches, including internal family systems, EMDR, somatic (body-based) techniques, mindfulness, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. I focus on each client's strengths and embrace a holistic model of care. As an expressive arts therapist, I offer the option of incorporating the arts into therapy sessions. I believe that the use of the expressive arts can assist in self-expression and inspire deeper self-awareness. *Please note that I am not taking insurance at this time. I am also happy to provide superbills for OON reimbursement!

Emotions are normal, even hard to handle ones. Struggling is normal; it’s all part of the human experience. I’m here to teach you and empower you to manage and cope with strong emotions, stressors, and hardships. Through our time together, you will learn about the mind and how it connects with the body, and how to apply this knowledge to feel better. I specialize in treating trauma, depression, anxiety, dual diagnosis involving addiction and mental illness, positive psychology, and holistic healing. The mind is a powerful tool. With specific therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, (changing one’s thoughts to then change one’s emotions and behaviors), we can restructure our brain to operate in a more optimal manner, resulting in less stress, anxiety and depression symptoms, and more meaning, joy and fulfillment. With my therapeutic expertise, concrete tools, empathy, and compassion, I will guide you towards the best version of yourself who is better equipped to handle life’s stressors and make positive changes.
