Trauma impacts our relationships. It's that simple. If your sexual assault makes it hard to be touched, if events from your childhood leave you afraid to trust, if the way your ex treated you is ruining things for you now: you're experiencing that impact. It may feel like a lot, but having the type of relationships you want (laugh 'til you cry, hot sex, deep emotional connection, whatever!) is totally achievable. You don't have to feel embarrassed by what you've gone through or scared to speak it out loud. Vulnerability, authenticity, and healthy connection are waiting for you and you don't have to find them on your own. In addition to post-traumatic growth, I help individuals and couples who are managing sexual dysfunction, infidelity, or are experiencing general relationship issues. For those who identify as LGBTQIA+ and those in alternative relationship structures: my practice is affirming and inclusive. I serve these populations safely, competently, and joyfully. I look forward to being a "someone who gets it" in your life and meeting you in a space where nothing is considered too much information. In fact, TMI is my favorite kind of I! Just send me a message to set up a consult.

Adjusting to college life can be difficult on so many levels. I can help with anxiety and depression issues that you've been struggling with for a long time or that are new to you. Issues I often see are related to adjusting to being independent for the first time, the rigor of school, or navigating new social circles. I have special expertise in helping folks with body-focused repetitive behaviors (skin picking, hair pulling) as well as being training in cognitive behavioral treatment of insomnia.

Life can often feel messy and chaotic. My passion is to help bring order out of chaos to facilitate growth and peace. Many of my clients present with concerns related to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stressful life transitions and circumstances, or they report feeling a little “off” and are seeking help to feel more like themselves again. I work best with clients who are engaged and motivated to see changes in their lives, and I have a great love for coming alongside people to help them move towards becoming the best version of themselves. My goal is shalom, the Hebrew word for peace, wholeness and universal flourishing. Operating from a strengths-based perspective, I work to create a safe environment and partner with clients to help empower and equip them to face life’s challenges, while creating meaning for themselves along the way. If you’re feeling stuck and are looking for a way to help jumpstart your life, I am just a quick message or brief consultation away!

My goal as a counselor is to help others UNLEARN how to be their own worst enemies. Perhaps you're feeling so low or worry so much that it doesn't seem like you are fully living life anymore. Maybe your self-esteem is low, and you've lost sight of what makes you a beautiful being. I aim to meet a client where they are and understand how they view themselves and the world. Then can change begin to occur. I help clients learn to better understand themselves and introduce skills that can help them cope with the uncomfortable thoughts and feelings they experience. I bring fun into the therapy process by incorporating activities, art and the client's creativity in session. Counseling is tailored to fit each client's needs and I welcome input from my clients. I welcome clients of all ages and backgrounds. Please feel free to reach out via phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you and starting this journey with you.

Welcome! I provide evidence-based therapy to address a broad range of presenting issues. Currently, my practice focuses on anxiety, depression, substance use, relationships, school stress, trauma, disordered eating, and other health concerns (e.g., sleep problems, adjusting to medical diagnoses, etc.). My primary task as your psychologist is to foster a supportive, collaborative environment where we are able to identify and work towards meaningful goals. In order to accomplish that, I utilize an array of strategies and therapeutic methods that are tailored to your particular presenting concerns. Together, we will collaborate to identify what is causing or perpetuating your distress and come up with strategies to improve your quality of life and help you thrive. Deciding to try therapy is a leap of faith, both in your therapist and also in yourself and your ability to improve your life. Thank you for letting me join you on this journey!
I am passionate about working with individuals struggling with anxiety and depression-related disorders, disordered eating and eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, communication issues, social injustice, trauma recovery, and more.

I have been working with clients and their families for more than 9 years. My theoretical models are strengths-based and systems. I'm a licensed clinical social worker. Acceptance and change are hard. I help people face and make space for their life histories and experiences and support them in identifying and making the changes that lead to meaning and satisfaction in their lives and relationships. I believe that you are the expert on your life, and my role is to provide encouragement, support and guidance on your journey of healing and growth. My practice is focused on the needs of men, and I enjoy helping men that are struggling with anxiety, depression, chronic illness or disability, relationship issues, complex trauma/childhood wounds, racial stress and trauma, and navigating adulthood/"failure to launch" and masculinity. As a Black man, I am committed to addressing the unique experiences of and challenges that face BIPOC men. I believe that humans are wired for connection and that profound and lasting healing comes from satisfying this essential need. My work is based on AEDP Psychotherapy (formally known as Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) and Emotionally Focused Therapy. The AEDP Institute (aedpinstitute.org) describes AEDP Psychotherapy as “an experiential model that seeks to alleviate patients’ psychological suffering by helping them process the overwhelming emotions associated with trauma in a way that facilitates corrective emotional and relational experiences that mobilize positive changes in our neuroplastic brains.” The International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (iceeft.com/) describes Emotionally Focused Therapy as a “form of therapy that helps people understand and improve their emotional connection with themselves and others.” Both therapies emphasize the importance of our relationships with ourselves and others and use the power of corrective experiences with our emotions within the safe haven and secure base of the therapist-client relationship to fuel growth and healing. I also use skills and techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and other approaches that emphasize mindfulness, acceptance, and compassion when needed to facilitate healing. I come from a family of helpers and healers, and I have been privileged to help people in a variety of roles and settings. I have worked as a state social welfare caseworker, an assistant in a state library for the blind and disabled, a respiratory therapist and a medical social worker. I grew up in a military family and was fortunate to be exposed to and learn from a variety of cultures. I am a member of the "sandwich generation” and know what it means to care for and support older and younger family members with chronic illness and disability simultaneously. As a person living with chronic illness, I also have lived experience with the challenges and limitations that come along with living with a disability. My experiences have fostered in me a deep appreciation of and respect for the diversity of the human experience. When I am not working, I enjoy all things that involve good food, friends, and family. I look forward to learning more about you, who and what matters to you, and traveling with you on your journey of hope and healing!
